In these much troubled times it is so very difficult just to find employment, and when one does the wages are invariably low, the terms wholly unreasonable and job security to all intents and purposes non-existent.
And why shouldnt it be that way? There are after all thousands of people out there who would give their arms and legs to be in your position, simply having a job, no matter how poor the working environment. If you dont like it, an interview at the Job Centre and a long, arduous, pulse-raising struggle to convince the utterly disinterested customer services person that you might be entitled to 65 per week awaits you.
Under the circumstances there is certainly a lot more dignity to be found in self-employment. Being ones own boss and enjoying all the fruits of ones own labour do seem to be an attractive alternative. But with no finance available to you to assist you with start-up costs, and with your potential customers themselves all struggling just to pay for their essentials each week you could still be onto a hiding to nothing. If you fail to sell anything there will be no income for you at the end of the week. You are completely on your own, you either swim or else you sink.
So perhaps in these times of austerity it would make better sense to consider the option of franchising. With a good franchise operation you will be able to enjoy all the benefits of a support network from a company of experts, whilst still retaining the independence to work at your own pace and according to your own style.
Of course franchises themselves arent by any means immune to the negative effects of recession and the diktats of the market, so when considering which field to operate in it is very important to take into account the product or service that is on offer and the extent to which it offers you protection against financial insecurity.
One area in which business is certainly still being done is . Most people who keep pets treat
The Pet Care Trust is pleased to announce that its Pets in the Classroom program received over 7,000 requests for grants in the program’s first two years. Established by the Pet Care Trust in 2009, Pets in the Classroom provides grants to Pre-Kindergarten through Sixth grade teachers to purchase or adopt a new pet and required equipment or to support existing classroom pets.
In 2010, its first full year of operation, the program awarded 2,060 grants to teachers. Having received over 7,000 requests in its two years of operation, The Pets in the Classroom program has more than tripled its number of requests in the second year. With an average classroom size of 30 students, the Trust has brought a pet into the lives of 210,000 students.
The large increase of applicants in the second year is in part because of the addition of the Petco and PetSmart coupon programs to the Pets in the Classroom program. The Pets in the Classroom website () was re-launched on August 2 to include Petco and PetSmart coupon programs, in addition to the standard redemption program for independent retailers. On the first day of the re-launch, Pets in the Classroom received more than 50 applications. This pace continues as nearly 100 requests came in each day in the first five weeks.
The influx of grant requests will assist the Pet Care Trust in attaining their goal of reaching 1 million children in 30,000 classrooms across North America. While the 7,000 grants are making a great impact, the organization is still a long way from reaching its goal. The Pet Care Trust is looking for companies or individuals that are willing to sponsor classrooms. A donation of only $100 will help reach 30 students with a program that is instrumental in teaching students responsible, long-term pet care at an early age. Please visit .

A children’s item known as Pillow Pets have been one of the top selling kids products for the year 2009 and thus far in the year 2010. As a matter of fact so many moms and dads purchased them as Christmas presents for their kids this past year, they were bought out in many stores and online as well.
So what causes these kid’s toys so unique At first glance, it looks pretty much like any regular cute stuffed animal to parents. However, the unique thing about Pillow Pets is they are able to pop open into full sized pillows that children can use to rest or snooze on. This is why the product is known as a Pillow Pet.
This is done with Velcro straps. If you undo the Velcro strap, the Pillow Pet will instantly pop open and turn into a pillow. To turn it back into a plush stuffed animal again, you simply reattach the Velcro belt.
With this dual purpose and a commercial with an attractive song, lots of children have asked their moms and dads for one. I’ve heard of many parents becoming irritated because their kids were singing the Pillow Pets tune that goes, “It’s a pillow. It’s a pet. It’s a Pillow Pet.” all of the time.
A mother of two children in San Diego, California was the original inventor of the Pillow Pets. The main reason was that she was tired of her young children leaving their stuffed animals all over their bedrooms and the home. So she decided she was making a stuffed toy that was also a meaningful item. She later came up with the concept that it will be a pillow.
Consequently, she ended up setting up a millionaire dollar business and Pillow Pets are being sold in stores nationally. The original product line only contained six different animals but it has now grown to over thirty various Pillow Pets. In addition, complementary products such as backpacks, blankets, slippers and books were created due to the success.
Pillow Pets can be purchased in 2 different dimensions. The large sized
